KEYS TO SUCCESS IN THE GYM

Dedication
The quality of being dedicated to a purpose or a task. What does dedication mean to you? How far will you go to complete a task or achieve the goal that you have set for yourself. Sometimes I find myself questioning my dedication to various things in my life, but the one thing I never have to question is my dedication for my physical fitness. May it be a weight lifting sessions by myself or with a client, or a room full of 50 people waiting on a bootcamp, the electricity that penetrates throughout my body is unparalleled. When you are dedicated to something it just feels right and there is no barrier that can be used to detour the course of action.
When it comes to taking the proper steps for the course of action for physical fitness it starts 100% in the mind. Nobody can force you into the gym and expect you to adopt the same goals that they have set for you. In fact you need to develop some form of self motivation, and then become dedicated to it. Below are a few tools that can help get you moving in the right direction towards your fitness.

Mental Preparation
Before entering into a gym one must first have a course of action that has been set forth. It can be a pre designed workout plan, a goal for a certain amount of cardio, or something as simple as ab work. Whatever it might be you just need to be thinking about what the ultimate goal of going to the gym is. Once a plan of action is established it enables the physical action. When the self doubt has been set behind you the goals become a real vision. 90% of working out is mental, so mental toughness is key.

Attire
“If you look good, you play good.” That is a common term used amongst athletes. Meaning if you put some thought and consideration into your appearance in sport then psychologically it will enhance your performance. Is this true? Probably not, but there’s nothing worse then somebody in the gym not dressed in athletic wear. You are not going to get anything accomplished in jeans and boots inside the gym. If you invest into your fitness then the more likely you are to follow through, due to the financial commitment.

Pride
Everything that you do inside of the gym should be done with a sense of pride and dignity. If you’re not sure the proper form or execution of an exercise you should research it, or ask a trainer for help in the gym (believe it or not that’s what they are there for). Execution and technique is key in physical fitness. A simple error can occur and you will not receive any of the benefits of the exercise. But when that error is corrected then transformation can now occur. If you have the pride within then you will strive for perfection.

Consistency
If you start something you need to stick with it. It needs to become part of you almost, as if it’s your addiction. Once you become addicted to your fitness then it will become a part of you, therefore you will remain consistent. Consistency is imperative because as long is it takes to get into shape it only takes 1/4 of the time to fall off of the horse. If you have a routine that you execute weekly stay with it and before you know it the results will show!
